Curriculum Vitae
Giovanni Felder has been Full Professor of Mathematics at the ETH Zurich since July 1, 1997.
Giovanni Felder, born on November 18, 1958, studied mathematics and physics at the ETH Zurich. He earned his Ph.D. at the Institute for Theoretical Physics with a dissertation on quantum field theory under the supervision of Professor Jürg Fröhlich. After postdoctoral and guest positions at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques, Bures-sur-Yvette, at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, ETH, at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, and at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, Santa Barbara, he became assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics of the ETH Zurich. From 1994 to 1996 he was professor of mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The research activity of Giovanni Felder concerns mathematical problems that are motivated by physical ideas. He studies algebraic and geometric properties of integrable models of statistical mechanics and quantum field theory.
