Antoine Maillard, has received the prize for his thesis in theoretical physics entitled "Fundamental limits of high-dimensional estimation. A stroll between statistical physics, probability and random matrix theory".
Maillard's thesis research is at the frontier between statistical physics, nonlinear physics, information theory, and high-dimensional statistics and probability. He studied interdisciplinary problems related to machine learning and artificial intelligence using different methods from statistical physics, probability and random matrix theory.
He is currently a Hermann-Weyl Instructor (postdoc) in the group of Afonso Bandeira.
