Sara van de Geer 2024 Abel Prize lecturer

Sara van de Geer was invited by the Abel Prize Committee to give an Abel Prize lecture in honour of the 2024 Abel Prize winner Michel Talagrand.

Sara van de Geer will hold the lecture "A statistician's selection of the work of Michel Talagrand" as part of the Abel Week at the University of Oslo on 22 May 2024. The lecture will be recorded and made available later. Further details can be found on the external pageAbel Prize website.

Sara van de Geer has been a professor at the Seminar for Statistics until Juli 2023 and is now retired. She was the first woman mathematics professor at ETH Zurich. Read more in the article: Mathematician without too many plans.

About the Abel Prize

The Abel Prize is named after Niels Henrik Abel, Norway’s greatest mathematician throughout the times. Abel left lasting marks on the mathematical world. His mathematics have served as a base for a number of major technological breakthroughs, there amongst the development of the internet.
