Robert Kucharczyk: ETH Fellowship
We are delighted to announce that Dr Robert Kucharczyk has received a fellowship of the ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme.
Robert Kucharczyk has obtained a fellowship for the project: "Modular embeddings: arithmetic and geometry". He works as a postdoctoral researcher together with his mentor Professor Paul Nelson. The project is at the crossroads between algebraic number theory, algebraic geometry and the classical theory of complex functions. Using modular embeddings, which are very special functions with remarkable geometric properties, its main aim is to establish new links between the well-understood but at times overwhelmingly complex theory of Shimura varieties and arithmetic groups on the one hand and seemingly simple low-dimensional objects such as Grothendieck's dessins d'enfants on the other hand..
