Title Why do Lagrangian cobordisms live in C x X?
Speaker, Affiliation Valentin Bosshard, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 14 November 2023, 14:15-15:15
Location HG G 26.3
Abstract Lagrangian cobordisms induce iterated cones in the Fukaya category. In this talk, I want to go the other direction. What are iterated cones and why do we expect that some of them come from Lagrangian submanifolds of C x X. We will meet a Kunneth formula and algebraic constructions like (A-infinity) modules, bimodules and even trimodules.

Title Displacing Toric Fibers Pt. I: Probes
Speaker, Affiliation Reto Kaufmann, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 11 December 2023, 14:15-15:15
Location HG G 43
Abstract We begin by introducing toric fibers and recalling the notion of displaceability. Subsequently, we explore the technique of probes, as proposed by McDuff, to displace toric fibers. We then focus on monotone manifolds, where the ability to displace all but one toric fibers using probes is tied to the polytope exhibiting the so-called star-Ewald property. We will outline this connection, discuss the validity of the star-Ewald property in low-dimensional polytopes, and consequently, establish that in low-dimensional monotone toric manifolds, all but one toric fibers can be displaced.

Title Displacing Toric Fibers Pt. II: Introduction to Lagrangian Floer homology
Speaker, Affiliation Dr. Ipsita Datta, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 12 December 2023, 14:15-15:15
Location HG G 19.2
Abstract I will introduce Lagrangian Floer homology. We will see various issues in turning the differentials into actual differentials. We will discuss how this is solved in the monotone Lagrangian case. Time permitting we will discuss how in the exact case it is easy to conclude about displaceability from this homology. That way we will be well set up for the next talk which will discuss displaceability in the monotone case.

Title Displacing Toric Fibers Pt. III: The Clifford torus
Speaker, Affiliation Dr. Jean-Philippe Chassé, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Date, Time 12 December 2023, 15:15-16:15
Location HG G 19.2
Abstract In this last part of this lecture series, we will finally be showing that the Clifford torus is not displaceable in complex projective space. This will done via a direct computation of some variant of its Floer cohomology. I will thus start by explaning this variant, before going into the analysis of disks with boundary on the Clifford torus to complete the computation.
