Title Sharp systolic inequalities in Riemannian geometry and Reeb dynamics
Speaker, Affiliation Alberto Abbondandolo, Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Date, Time 2 March 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract A classical question in Riemannian geometry is to find a sharp upper bound for the ratio of the square of the length of the shortest closed geodesic on a two-sphere by the area of the sphere. I shall discuss how symplectic techniques can be used in order to determine sharp upper bounds for metrics which are sufficiently pinched. I shall also argue that the natural setting for questions of this kind is Reeb dynamics and discuss some results in this setting.

Title Homological Mirror Symmetry for Singularities of type Tpqr
Speaker, Affiliation Ailsa Keating, Columbia University, USA
Date, Time 16 March 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract We present some versions of mirror symmetry for the unimodal singularities of type $T_{p,q,r}$. We will consider some symplectic invariants of the real four-dimensional Milnor fibres of these singularities, and explain how they correspond to coherent sheaves on certain blow-ups of the projective space $\P^2$. Time allowing, we hope to emphasize how the relations between different ``flavours" of invariants (e.g., versions of the Fukaya category) match up on both sides.

Title Cuplength estimates in Morse and Floer homology
Speaker, Affiliation Peter Albers, Universität Münster
Date, Time 11 May 2015, 15:15-16:30
Location HG G 43
Abstract In this talk I will present a general cuplength estimate using Morse- and Floer theoretic methods. From this several (mostly known) results in symplectic geometry follow immediately. The method of proof can be extracted from various sources in the literature. Thus the talk will be mostly educational (I hope.) This is joint work with Doris Hein.
