Sara van de Geer elected to National Academy of Sciences

The US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has elected Sara van de Geer at the conclusion of the Academy’s 159th Annual Meeting on 3 May 2022. She was elected for her outstanding contributions to modern nonparametric statistical theory.

Members are elected to the NAS in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Membership is a widely accepted mark of excellence in science and is considered one of the highest honours that a scientist can receive. external pageNAS News

Sara van de Geer has been professor at the Seminar for Statistics (SfS) since 2005. She carries out research on empirical processes, entropy, high-​​​dimensional models, L1-​regularization, probability inequalities, sparsity and statistical learning.
