Geometric analysis and PDE

The Geometric Analysis group studies questions originating in differential geometry or mathematical physics employing tools from the Calculus of Variations or PDE. Major topics are general relativity, geometric flows such as the Ricci or mean curvature flows, Hamilton-Jacobi equations, harmonic maps and their flows, minimal submanifolds, Monge-Ampère type equations, optimal transport, and nonlinear wave equations.

The group organizes a weekly Analysis seminar, as well as seminars for students. Moreover, several joint activities with the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Zurich take place regularly.
