Peter Bühlmann: IMS President

We are delighted to announce that Professor Peter Bühlmann has been elected President of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) by its members.

Peter Bühlmann is Professor at the Seminar for Statistics, and Director of ETH Foundations of Data Science. He conducts research in the fields of high-​​dimensional and computational statistics, machine learning, causal inference and interdisciplinary applications in biology and medicine.

He has taken up his new position on 7 July 2022.

The external page Institute of Mathematical Statistics was founded in 1935 and is an international professional and scholarly society devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability. The Institute currently has about 4,000 members in all parts of the world.
