Tim De Ryck: 2023 Analytics Club PhD Award
We are delighted to announce that Tim De Ryck has been honoured with the 2023 PhD Award from the Analytics Club at ETH.
Tim De Ryck received the award for the originality, the potential impact, and the academic significance of his research work. Tim is a doctoral student in the research group of Professor Siddhartha Mishra at the Seminar for Applied Mathematics since 2020. His research goal is to contribute to the mathematical explanation of the good performance of deep learning techniques in scientific computing. In particular, he is interested in providing proof that neural networks can efficiently approximate solutions of (high-dimensional) partial differential equations.
The Analytics Club PhD Award was presented for the first time at ETH Zurich and is a collaboration between G-Research and the Analytics Club at ETH. The Award recognises outstanding research contributions in areas such as mathematics, data science and computer science. The submitted works are evaluated by the award committee which consists of four professors from the Department of Mathematics.
