Ten teaching assistants receive 2024 VMP Assistant Award

The Association of Mathematics, Physics and CSE Students (VMP) has honoured ten student teaching assistants from the Departments of Mathematics and Physics with the VMP Assistant Award. The winners were selected by the VMP board based on feedback from the participating maths and physics students.

The following student teaching assistants were honoured. For each assistant, one of the numerous pieces of feedback was selected and translated from the original German text.

Damien Lagler (Physik 1)

Damien is excellent at repeating the lecture material in a clear and understandable way, so that even complex topics become tangible. In addition, he prepares the material relevant for the series in such a way that it becomes easily accessible and working on the series is not only efficient but also motivating. With his support, it is possible to maintain joy and enthusiasm when solving the series – an invaluable asset for all students!

Alexander Del Re (Physik 1)

Alexander is able to boil down complicated problems to an understandable level. In addition, the balance between exercises and theory is very good! He always tries to put himself in our shoes to understand our thought processes.

Jannik Kochert (Lineare Algebra 1)

Jannik manages to introduce the most important types of exercises in the series with examples and to give us an idea so that we are not completely lost when solving the series. He always links the examples with the theory in the script, which I find very useful.

Théodor Töpfer (Informatik)

Good exercise sessions. At the beginning, you could still see that Théodor lacked experience, because sometimes the exercise sessions seemed a bit improvised. Nevertheless, he always teaches us something new. The exercise sessions are very much focused on exam preparation, which I think is good.

Linus Thieme (Analysis 1)

In my opinion, Linus is the best teaching assistant. Very friendly, very motivated and very competent. I learn more from him than I do in the lecture. Really very good!

Lizanne Traulsen (Analysis 1)

Fantastic exercise sessions with a good mix of proofs and exercises. Lizanne addresses questions, provides super-clear examples and detailed corrections. Great preparation of the material! Thank you very much for all the help in Analysis!

Levin Ceglie (Algebra 1)

Brilliant tutorial! Levin often presents the theory from a second point of view, gives good examples and draws our attention to the most common pitfalls and misunderstandings.

Derk Arnold Steffens (Analysis 3)

Derk has an overview of the entire course of study and shows how the material covered is related to the material in the other subjects. He is also able to answer questions well and quickly, motivates us to participate and thus encourages out-of-the-box thinking.

Evan Seth Quistad (Funktionentheorie)

Evan is highly motivated, provides very good examples and the material he prepares are selected to help enormously with understanding the topic.

Christophe Jean Luis (Numerische Mathematik 1)

Christophe shows a lot of intuition behind the material being covered. He presents examples and goals that you work through with the material. He also explains well how to get the different results and prepares us well for the exam with many practical examples.
